Phoenix
Phoenix, sometimes referred to as the “Valley of the Sun”, is the largest and most populous city in the state of Arizona. It is also the state capital and the largest state capital in the United States in terms of population. The city of Tempe, just outside of Phoenix has built two inflatable dams in the Salt River bed to create a year-round recreational lake, called Tempe Town Lake. Here you can find runners, triathletes and swimmers training for their races or even participating in one of the many events that take place in Phoenix such as Ironman Arizona and the Phoenix Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon. Surrounded by mountains, Phoenix also provides hikers, mountain bikers, and climbers a vast array of terrain to explore and conquer! Phoenix boasts an arid climate with very hot summers and cold winners which only adds to the training versatility this city has to offer.
Home to dozens of fantastic golf courses, several professional sporting teams and many amusement parks to help residents deal with the summer heat – Phoenix truly is a hot spot for endurance athletes and sporting enthusiasts alike! |
